- Subject: File 4--"Hackers" take on the UFOs?
-
- ((MODERATORS' COMMENT: We've read a bit of discussion about UFOs,
- "hackers," and guerilla investigators. Whether myth or reality, the
- discussions represent a segment of computer culture that others might
- find interesting. So, we run the following as a reflection of one
- segment of the culture that, even if myth, raises that age-old
- question: Is it live, or is it memorex?)).
-
- Rumors have begun to surface about a group of hackers who were
- involved in a project to uncover information regarding the existence
- of UFOs. The most public example pertaining to this alleged project
- was seen on Dateline NBC on the screen of the mystery hacker
- "Quentin."
-
- The story goes that this group of individuals decided to put their
- skills to work on a project that, if successful, would legitimize the
- hacking process by uncovering information on what has been called the
- greatest cover-up in the history of the world. Milnet TAC ID cards
- were obtained through military officials sympathetic to the cause.
- Several sites and networks were targeted that had in the past been
- linked to UFO activity. These were sites like the Jet Propulsion
- Laboratory, Sandia Labs, TRW Space Research, American Institute of
- Physics, and various other educational, government and military sites.
-
- The rumors also emphasize that several sites had what these
- individuals called "particularly heavy security." Within several
- seconds after connection had been established, system administrators
- of sites used in this project were contacted. Further rumors state
- that there was information regarding a propulsion system designed
- utilizing what is termed "corona discharge" being analyzed at one
- site. The most sinister of all rumors states that one particular
- participant who was allegedly deeply immersed in TRWs internal network
- has not been heard from since uncovering data regarding a saucer being
- housed at one of their Southern California installations.
-
- Believe what you will about the reality of this project. Much will be
- dismissed as hacker lore, but within the core of every rumor lies a
- grain of truth.
-
- Are we being lied to? Why is this information still classified by the
- NSA? What are they hiding from us behind a maze of security? Will we
- continue to stand idly by and let an uncaring and deliberately evasive
- government shield us from what may be the most important, and
- potential dangerous news to ever surface? Information wants to be
- free, and only a concerted group effort can make this happen. How
- much do you really want to know about what is really going on?
-
- What follows is information that has been released regarding this
- project...

- These are the raw data. Where comments are appropriate, they will be
- included. The data will be grouped together with dates, names etc. to
- make correlations easier.
-
- There are countless references to the aliens, their down space craft
- and what the Government is doing with them. If, as is supposed, the
- research on the craft and the 'ufonauts' continues today, then
- undoubtedly there are computer records, somewhere.

- ------------------------------
-
- The obvious question that comes to my mind is the real purpose behind this
- alleged "document" made by secret hackers accessing government systems,
- looking for UFO files.
-
- Was the document put together by the hackers themselves through preliminary
- searches, or by somebody reading up on the paranet archives thoroughly and
- writing down any relevant information?
-
- Let us suppose for a moment that the information presented here is real,
- and that these so-called hackers actually accessed US military computers
- around the nation, and managed to grab this stuff. If so, then several
- current ideas about certain UFO authors are contradicted and in question.
-
- If the William Moore/Stanton Friedman/Jamie Shandera involvement with the
- MJ-12 documents are forgeries, meant to feed disinformation to the public,
- then why are they on the government shit list? If it was just Moore who
- was an alleged "government disinformation agent", and the other two were
- not, why include his name? Just to say he wasn't? This just points to
- more disinformation.
-
- If the MJ-12 documents released by Moore ARE true, then why include
- Shandera on the "shit list"? Previously, Shandera had absolutely nothing
- to do with UFOs or UFOlogy, and [as far as I know] nothing to do with it
- since the papers were released. Shandera is a television producer in
- California and just happened to know Moore. Furthermore, wouldn't the
- person who "leaked" this information to Moore be at the top of the "shit
- list" rather than Moore? Bob Lazar is, and he leaks a lot. Why are only
- public names we already know on the government shit list, which is secret
- anyway? There is something amiss here.
-
- The first two names are more plausable realistically. Major Donald Keyhoe
- got his plug pulled on national television about UFOs. If Robert Lazar
- isn't the hoax of the last couple of years, then his name makes sense also.
- The last name on the list, Timothy Goode, probably one of the leading
- UFOlogists in the UK, is probable. However, if he is on the "government
- shit list", why not other known and predominant UFOlogists in THIS country?
- Why not Michael Corbin and Don Allen, just to name a few? If we include
- the UK in all of this, why not add Jenny Randles, too?
-
- Finally, the last name is very skeptical. If this was a real document
- collected from real government computers, why would Whitley Streiber's name
- be on it? Many in the UFO community consider him a certifiable nut-case
- and a fraud. He says the same about UFOlogists. If the guy really is
- crazy--his books about aliens just keep getting weirder and weirder--then
- the government would have no plausable argument for putting him on the list.
-
- Also, the list only gives 3 different UFO crashes other than Roswell. Does
- that mean no other UFO's ever came down, or just that there's no information?
-
- Please note that no mention of abductions are made.
-
- Now, let's take the flip-side. The document was not precured by a group of
- LOD-type hackers, but by one or several people who put this information
- together from various sources. I return to my original question--why?
-
- If it is a disinformation paper, why go through the trouble of putting all
- of this together, typing up this entire document, but filled with things
- that most of us already knew in advance. If it was not a government-
- written document, but outsiders, the paper really serves no purpose.
-
- However, there are a few new bits of information that I had not previously
- known before which may or may not effect the credibility of the document.
- I do not pretend to know everything about UFOs or documents relating to
- them, and the information presented in the file may or may not be new to
- your eyes--some of it was to mine.
-
- For instance, I have never heard of the saucers out in Area 51 using a
- "corona discharge" propulsion system. I might have missed the term some-
- place, but if it is connected I would like to know so I could correct
- myself.
-
- If NORAD and SPACECOM track UFOs, why scramble F-14s for interception? Why
- not a high-altitude fighter, such as an F-15, which has more land-based
- capability then a naval fighter?
-
- The seemingly shocking line, "Robert Lazar talked!" implies it was a new
- found revelation. Yes, he did talk--a couple of years ago.
-
- Sandia labs is a revelation--I have never heard it mentioned before. Nor
- the related Project Beta.
-
- In conclusion, this whole document appears to be an outline of UFO
- and government activity for the past forty-five years or so. It looks to
- be authentic in the way that much time has gone into it, the author appears
- to have a fair knowledge of UFOlogy. I have explained previously the
- immediate problems I see.
-
- The premise behind these UFO hackers is a good one, but no real proof
- exists that they actually did break into Defense Department systems. If we
- hear nothing else from these hackers, or from the sender, we may conclude
- that the posting was merely informational and nothing more than that.
- However, if there are constant revisions to these projects, what are we to
- think? Where do we go from here?
-
- Finally, what are these supposed hackers really doing for the UFO community?
- Helping solve the mysteries, or just further damaging it's already stained
- reputation? If the information was collected from government installations
- then these hackers are violating law by breaking into these systems. The
- idea that they want to "legitimize the hacking process" through illegal
- actions is a contradiction in itself. There is no legitimate reason why
- people snort coke or shoot complete strangers for their Air Jordans. If
- the hackers use their talents for the "good" of the UFO community and the
- world, who will ultimately reep the benefits of this ill wind?
